Who are those mystical creatures who dwell behind the Doors of MainStrasse Village
Tucked away in quiet little gardens, or on 100 year old homes or in thriving businesses in our Village are little doors that are said to be the entryway for mystical creatures who come and go to and fro in our Village. Who are these mysical creatures. Are they the gremlins of bygone days, or the pixies that dance in the nearby fields and woods, Maybe they are munchkins from munchkin land, or gnomes or fairies? Where did they come from and why did they choose our Village? How many of them are there? How can one see them? Where do they go when they leave their dwellings? Do they have names? How old are they? Can I read about them in the history books? Are they spirits of the departed? Someone said they gather at nite and dance thru the streets and alleyways of our village.

The Story of the Doors of MainStrasse
Once upon a time, the Wee Fairy Folk - the munchkins, fairies, pixies, gremlins and elves asked Wanda the Woodlands Witch to find a suitable place for them to live. You see, these Wee Folk were being driven out of their current home by unhappy humans who were always fighting among themselves.
Wanda the Woodlands Witch began searching – the Wee Folk wanted a place where they would be happy and could stay for a long time. Wanda the Woodlands Witch, who loved traveling by water, began a trek down the Ohio River. As she neared a blue bridge she heard the bridge singing! Thinking that this was a good omen, she quickly landed and began to look about.
As she trekked westward, she heard bell chimes coming from a Clock Tower located at the end of a boulevard. When she saw the beautiful Goose Girl Fountain, she realized that she was in a place called MainStrasse Village. She was so excited to find such a lovely place that she immediately sent a message to the Good Witch of the West asking her to declare “that MainStrasse Village was indeed the thriving, happy, harmonious and beautiful place that the wee fairy folk were longing for.’
Quietly departing from the Village, she left a note under a railroad trestle “your village has been chosen by the Wee Fairy Folk – munchkins, fairies, pixies, gremlins and elves – for their new home. “
When the people of the Village realized that soon wee fairy folk would be coming in droves, they knew that they must work together to make them feel welcome. And so, they began decorating and installing tiny fairy doors on buildings and in gardens all over the Village.
When the Village Mayor realized how proud his people were of the doors, he proclaimed that people from near and far should come to see the beautiful fairy doors. If only they had a map of the doors. Alas, near the fountain, they found that Gabador, the Elf had done the work for them by creating this map for you.

A mystical being, known as SEMM, ventured from the Far North and settled in the quaint MainStrasse Village. It fell in love with the charm and history of the area. It took up residence at 625 Bakewell Street knowing that it needed a little TLC. With time and creativity, it gave the old house new life. It has been said that you may even see it enjoying a glass of wine!7/23/09

Our fairy's name is "Pin Curl" or as we like to call her "Pinny". She comes through her tiny door long after the lights have been turned off and the salon has closed. Her mission . . . to clean the shop. She sweeps floors, washes combs and brushes, folds towels to ensure that our following day in the shop "rolls" smoothly. Pinny has never actually been seen doing these things but we know that it is her!!!

fabulous jewels upon this door for all to enjoy; as a result all who view this
door great fortune awaits them. Lejeau's motto is "il vaut mieux de donner que
pour recevoir" (it is better to give than to receive")"
Traveling from the Fast East, fairies have come to collect the priceless swallows nests from high rood tops and cliffs, dangerous work best left to them.
This door, a replica of the Official Swallows Nest Bureau in Hoi Ann, Vietnam, is the place fairies will bring the swallows nest and trade them for gold.

It was just short of 100 years ago, that a certain leprechaun trudged through the darkness of night to Saint Pattie Church at the corner of Fifth and Philadelphia streets in MainStrasse Village. With just a sliver of moonlight to work with, he quietly buried his pot of gold somewhere under the church. The church was long ago replaced by busy streets and office buildings but every February 17 under cover of darkness, the leprechaun returns to look for his pot of gold. Disappointed every year and overwhelmed with the changes that have come about in the Village, he promises himself that he will continue to return until he finds his pot of gold.
The House of Cats Door
